Capsule Geology

The TF area is located 235 kilometres northwest of MacKenzie. It is underlain by Upper Triassic Takla Group volcanics consisting of andesitic volcaniclastics, predominantly crystal and lapilli tuffs, interlayered with minor andesite flows. Minor feldspar porphyry dikes intrude the volcaniclastics.

Work at the TF occurrence in 2013 consisted of soil and talus fine sampling which resulted in the outlining of a 550-metre-wide zone, open to the west, north and south that returned values of from 0.046 gram per tonne gold to 1.11 grams per tonne gold. Many of the higher gold-in-soil values in this area are found within, or in close proximity to, north or northwest trending gullies suggesting a possible genetic relationship between structure and gold mineralization in this area. The highest gold-in-soil value from this work program (1.11 ppm gold) coincides with the approximate location of an historic sample (Hemlo Gold) consisting of strongly sericite and carbonate-altered quartz veined andesite, a sample of which returned 9.7 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 23682, Sample KP 0224; see Dort 3, 094D 203). Although the 2013 program was unable to duplicate values of as much as 5000 (plus) parts per billion gold in soil, previously encountered by Hemlo, anomalous soil/talus fine values of from 0.185 to 0.372 ppm gold were located in the general vicinity of the historic highs (Assessment Report 34463).

WORK HISTORY

In 1994, Hemlo Gold worked on the KPO, GV, Creek and TF zones and Mariposite Creek with Hemlo collecting a total of 717 soils and 195 rock samples. A total of 32.4-line kilometers of grid was constructed with 29.05 line-kilometers of magnetometer surveying later being completed. This work resulted in the definition of a 3-kilometre long and 500-1000-metre-wide zone of quartz veined and fractured ankerite and sericite-altered, pyritized andesite tuffs. This zone was semi-coincident with a greater than 100 parts per billion gold-in-soil anomaly (Assessment Report 23682).

In 1995, Hemlo Gold Mines Inc. continued work on several of the properties described in 1994. Drilling was completed on the Soup and Granite Basin projects while further geological and geochemical surveys were conducted on the Darb and Mariposite projects.

In 1996 Battle Mountain Canada (formerly Hemio Gold Mines lnc.) drilled 461 metres in 2 diamond drill holes on the Mariposite Property (Assessment Report 24778). The program was conducted in order to test anomalous gold in talus line anomalies associated with quartz-quartz/calcite stockworking hosted by sericite-ankerite plus/minus biotite -altered andesite volcanics and epiclastics. The drill program incorporated geological and geochemical data collected during the 1994-1995 field seasons. Drill results are discussed in Mariposite (094D 202).

The 2012 field work of Bernard Kreft focused on the area immediately surrounding the Johan MINFILE occurrence (Mariposite), though the Dort property claims covered most of the historical showings west and south of Solo (Bruce) Lake. A one-day helicopter supported field geochemistry and prospecting program was conducted. Five out of the eight silt samples collected returned gold values of less than 100 parts per billion gold. One rock sample obtained from a quartz vein returned 0.142 gram per tonne gold over 0.70 meters (Assessment 33552). Also, the positive geochemical results continued to delineate the presence of gold mineralization in the area encompassing the Johan MINFILE occurrence (094D 137).

In 2013, Bernie Kreft conducted a program of soil and rock sampling in an effort to verify historical results. Work consisted of soil and rock sampling traverses conducted in the area of the Mariposite Creek and TF zones. A total of 67 soil samples and 14 rock samples were collected (Assessment Report 34436).
